Hello,
Welcome to the Planet Idea Smart Projects Map.
This project was created to serve as a research and dissemination tool involving the key
smart city projects and municipalities from around the world. The map displays Smart City
Projects by Planet (e.g. Smart City Laguna) in green, Smart City Projects by other
developers (e.g.
Sidewalk
Labs) in blue and Smart Municipalities (e.g. New York City) in red. To
change the visibility of either the projects or municipalities simply click the green, blue
or red icons along the top bar.
On the right a set of filters allow the user to narrow their search based on: 1. project
phase, 2. development type, 3. dominant macroarea, 4. surface area, 5. number of smart
solutions, and 6. the start date of the project.
Below, the arrow icon can be selected to view two graphs. The graph on the left
titled "Top
Smart City Projects" shows the top 10 smart city projects in the world. Note that the cities
were
ranked simply by the number of smart solutions that the developer has claimed to include in
the
project. As well, this research is ongoing so some smart city projects included in the map
have
yet to be ranked, including the entries under the “Awaiting data” field in the Dominant
Macroarea
filter. The second graph, on the right, titled "Top Solutions" shows the frequency in which
smart
solutions from Planet’s catalog are used in the various smart city projects around the
world.
